ARS VISIBILIS GENIUS is established as an exhibition program to support the continuous visibility of women artists who will provide this event with the genius that history continuously and systematically snatches from them.
GENIUS was born with the purpose of analyzing the current artistic story starring women and collectives of women artists who develop to stop this very unequal situation.
Since MECA launched the first edition of ARS VISIBILIS in 2013 more than 200 women artists from different countries have passed through it and in 2018, Rosa Muñoz Bustamante and Fernando Barrionuevo, directors of MECA, affirm that this exhibition will again be erected as an ideal stage to project national and international artists that in ARS VISIBILIS IV GENIUS will have room, because it will show the creative activity of women and its broad manifestations through the participation of artists from different countries.
The objective of GENIUS is to show a tour of works and artistic experiences resulting from individual research carried out by women artists but under a common context will show us a single shared result even despite the differences of each of the participating artists.
The artists selected for ARS VISIBILIS IV will be incorporated into the documentary Refresh Artists of the 21st Century edited and produced by MECA.
